Jesus meets the needs of the poor
Read Luke 7:11-23
This passage describes some of the great wonders of healing that Jesus did. It also tells of his response to John the Baptist’s question about whether he really was the Messiah. Think about the impact on the everyday lives of the people touched in such a remarkable way by Jesus.
?)What would being able to see and walk mean economically to the blind and lame in the time of Jesus?
?)Lepers were social outcasts. What impact would being cleansed of leprosy have on them?
?)What would be the greatest blessing to the deaf if they were able to hear?
?)Why did Jesus have compassion on the widow and her son?
Jesus brought good news of salvation to the poor in ways that affected the whole of their lives. As his followers, we should do the same in his name.

How are we to love God?
What does it mean to love our neighbours as ourselves?
Jesus was concerned about the whole person. He healed the sick as he preached and taught. We too must share his concern. When Jesus sent out his twelve disciples to minister to others, he commanded them to heal the sick and to be concerned for the physical needs of others as they preached the good news of Jesus Christ.
Read Matthew 28:19-20
This is known as the ‘Great Commission’. It is not optional for us as Christians– it is a command! If we follow this command, all of us involved in development also need to be involved in sharing our faith and making disciples. Social action and outreach should not be separated. One without the other is incomplete.

येशूले गरीबहरूको खाँचो पूरा गर्नुहुन्छ
लूका ७:११-२३ पढ्नुहोस्।
यो खण्डले येशूले गर्नुभएका केहि उदेकाका चङ्गाइका घटनाहरूको उल्लेख गर्दछ। यसले, उहाँ नै मसीह हुनुहुन्छ कि भन्ने बप्तिस्मा दिने यूहन्नाको प्रश्नको उत्तरको बारेमा पनि बताउँछ। येशूको यस्तो उदेकको तरिकाले मानिसहरूको दैनिक जीवनमा पारेको प्रभावको बारेमा विचार गर्नुहोस्।
? येशूको समयमा, एउटा अन्धो र लङ्गडोले देख्न र हिंड्न सक्नु भन्ने कुराले उसको आर्थिक स्थितिमा कस्तो प्रभाव पार्थ्यो होला?
? कुष्टरोगीहरू सामाजिकरुपमा बहिस्कृत थिए। कुष्टरोगबाट शुद्ध हुनु भन्ने कुराले उनीहरूको जीवनमा कस्तो प्रभाव पार्थ्यो होला?
? बहिराहरूले सुन्न पाउनु भनेको, उनीहरूको लागि त्यो भन्दा ठूलो आशिष् के हुन्थ्यो होला?
? विधवा र उनको छोराप्रति येशूले किन दया देखाउनु भयो?
? येशूले गरीबहरूलाई सुसमाचार यस्तो प्रकारले दिनुभयो कि उनीहरूको सम्पूर्ण जीवनमा नै त्यसले प्रभाव पारेको थियो। हामी उहाँका चेलाहरू भएर हामीले पनि उहाँको नाउँमा त्यस्तै गर्नुपर्छ।
लूका १०:२७ पढ्नुहोस्।
? हामीले परमेश्वरलाई कसरी प्रेम गर्नुपर्छ?
? हाम्रो छिमेकीलाई आफैलाई जस्तै प्रेम गर्नु भनेको अर्थ केहो?
येशूले सम्पूर्ण व्यक्तित्वको ख्याल गर्नुहुन्थ्यो। उहाँले प्रचार गर्दैगर्दा र शिक्षा दिंदै गर्नुहँदा विरामीलाई पनि निको पार्नुहुन्थ्यो। हामीले पनि उहाँले जस्तै गर्नुपर्छ। उहाँ आफ्ना बाह्र चेलाहरूलाई सेवाको काममा पठाउनुहुँदा उहाँले तिनीहरूलाई सुसमाचार प्रचारको साथमा विरामी निको पार्ने र अरुको शारीरिक आवश्कताको पनि ख्याल गर्नु भन्नुभयो।
मत्ती २८:१९-२० पढ्नुहोस्।
यसलाई हामी ‘महान आज्ञा’ पनि भन्दछौं। ख्रीष्टियान भएकाले यो हाम्रो लागि छान्ने कुरा होइन- यो त आज्ञा हो। यदि हामीले यो आज्ञा मान्यौं भने, हामी जो विकासको काममा संलग्न छौं हामी सुसमाचार प्रचार र चेला बनाउने काममा पनि संलग्न हुनुपर्छ।
सामाजिक कार्य र सुसमाचार प्रचारको कामलाई छुट्याउनु हुँदैन। एउटा विना अर्को अपूर्ण छ।
? यसलाई हामी कसरी व्यवहारमा लगाउन सक्छौं?
