A two and half year old toddler who had fallen into a 65-feet deep gorge of the Seti river near symmetry of Nayagaun, Kharbari, Pokhara has been rescued by a boy after 22 hours Wednesday. A 8 year old boy Kamal Nepali, from Tutunga was able to reach 65 feet down to get the girl.
The little girl who is the only child of Pastor John Pradhan, and his wife Esther, accidentally fell into the gorge at 2:30 pm Tuesday afternoon during a funeral service.
Teams of locals, police and army personnel and professional rescuers from Nepal Canoeing Association in Kathmandu attempted to rescue the girl for nearly 20 hours after she fell inside the ravine.
But even after 20 hours of repeated attempts, the rescuers weren’t able to bring the child back up. As the gorge was very narrow, the rescue teams were having great trouble in entering it to the depth.
Locals, relatives and Christians in Pokhara camped near the site all night long, praying for the safety of the child. Meanwhile Christians around the world who new it, were praying for the safety of the child.
Entering the gorge with nylon wires strapped around his body, Kamal rescued the toddler in just half an hour.
