Being an advocate
Read Exodus 2-5
These stories about Moses show that there are various stages and approaches to learn from, when acting as an advocate. Firstly, to be an advocate we need to be aware of the situations of others and to feel compassion for them (Exodus 2:11).
?)How can we make time to be good listeners and observers?
?)Who might God be prompting us to help?
Once we are aware of the needs, it may be tempting to rush straight in and try to help people (Exodus 2:11-15). But it is not until years later that Moses is called by God to go to Pharaoh and bring God’s people, the Israelites, out of Egypt (Exodus 3:7-14). Moses has many questions, but in the end he returns to Egypt.
?)Do we decide our actions through prayer or do we simply do what we think is best?
?)Are we prepared to wait for God’s timing?
?)Do we believe that if God has called us, he will equip us, despite our inadequacies?
?)Do we take the time to be sure we know the real situation on the ground?
Moses could have remained in his comfortable position, isolated from the difficulties of the people as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter (Exodus 2:10). He gave up his own security and privileged position to defend and help others in need.
?)Have we counted the cost of coming to the aid of others?
?)Are we willing to make any sacrifices involved?
God also prepares others to be part of the process. Moses is given the help of Aaron and the support of the Israelite leaders (Exodus 4:27-31).
?)Have we identified others to work alongside?
?)Are we using all the available resources?
Have we divided the tasks clearly so that each person can play their part? If what we are doing is God’s plan, it will succeed, however daunting the task seems and despite our own weaknesses. In fact, God seems to prefer working in impossible situations, so that the glory goes to him! (Exodus 14:29-31).
The Lord will fulfil his purposes. Do we believe this?
प्रस्थान २-५ पढ्नुहोस्।
कसैको पक्षमा बोल्ने काम गर्दा हामीले सिक्नु पर्ने विभिन्न तरिकाहरु र कदमहरुको बारेमा मोशाका यी कथाहरुले देखाउँछन्।सर्वप्रथम कसैको पक्षमा वकालत गर्नको लागि हामी उनीहरुको परिस्थितिको बारेमा सचेत हुनु आवश्यक छ र उनीहरुको लागि सहानुभूति हुनु आवश्यक छ (प्रस्थान २:११)
(?) हामी राम्रो सुन्ने र अवलोकन गर्ने मानिस हुन कसरी समय बनाउन सक्छौं (?)
(?) परमेश्वरले कसलाई सहायता गर्नको लागि देखाउँदै हुनुहुन्छ होला (?)
एकपटक हामी खाँचोको बारेमा सचेत भएपछि, सिधै त्यहाँ गएर, मानिसहरुलाई तुरुन्तै सहायता गर्ने परीक्षा आउन सक्छ (प्रस्थान २:११-१५)।तर धेरै वर्षपछि मोशालाई परमेश्वरले फारोकहाँ गएर परमेश्वरका मानिसहरु, इस्राएलीहरुलाई मिश्रबाट निकाल्नलाई बोलाउनु भयो (प्रस्थान ३:७-१४)।मोशाले थुप्रै प्रश्नहरु सोधे तर अन्तमा मिश्र देश फर्के।
(?) हामीले प्रार्थना गरेर हाम्रो कामको निर्णय गर्छौ कि हामीलाई उत्तम लागेको कुरा त्यसै गर्छौं ?
(?) यदि परमेश्वरले हामीलाई बोलाउनुभएको छ भने, उहाँले नै हाम्रा अपर्याप्ताहरुमा पनि सुसज्जित पार्नु हुन्छ भन्ने कुरामा के हामी विश्वास गर्छौं ?
(?) के हामीले वास्तविक आधारभूत परिस्थित (real situation on the ground) को बारेमा निश्चित हुन समय लिन्छौं ?
मोशा आफ्नो आरामदायी अवस्थामा बसिरहन सक्थे।फारोकी छोरीको छोरा भएर सबै कठिनाईहरुबाट टाढा (प्रस्थान २:१०)।उनले आफ्नो सुरक्षा र मौकाले पाएको पदलाई अरु खाँचोमा भएका मानिसहरुलाई सहायता गर्नको लागि त्यागे।
(?) अरुको सहायता गर्दा चुकाउनु पर्ने मूल्यलाई हामीले विचार गरेका छौं के ?
(?) कुनै बलिदानहरु दिनु परेमा के हामी तयार छौं ?
प्रकृयाको अंश हुन परमेश्वरले अरुहरुलाई पनि तयार पार्नु हुन्छ।मोशालाई हारुनको सहायता र इस्राएली अगुवाहरुको टेवा दिइएको थियो (प्रस्थान ४:७-३१)।
(?) हामी सँगसँगै काम गर्नको लागि के हामीले कसैलाई देखेका छौं ?
(?) के हामीले उपलब्ध भएका सबै स्रोतहरुको प्रयोग गर्दछौं ?
(?) के हामीले गर्नुपर्ने कामको बाँडफाँड स्पष्टसँग गरेका छौं ताकि हरेक व्यक्तिले आफ्नो भाग पूरा गर्न सकोस्।
यदि हामीले गरेको काम परमेश्वरको योजना हो भने, जस्तो सुकै निराशाजनक काम देखिए पनि र हाम्रा कमजोरीहरुका बावजूद, त्यो सफल हुन्छ।साँच्चै भन्ने हो भने, परमेश्वरले असम्भव परिस्थितिहरमा काम गर्न रुचाउनु हुन्छ, ताकि महिमा उहाँको हुनेछ ! (प्रस्थान १४:२९-३१)।परमप्रभुले उहाँका उद्देश्यहरु पूरा गर्नु हुन्छ।के हामी यो कुरामा विश्वास गर्छौ?
