Joy in the face of disaster
The book of Habakkuk has just three chapters. Because of the note at the end of the book, it is thought that Habakkuk was a temple musician, and he certainly wrote in poetic language. Chapters 1 and 2 describe a conversation between the prophet and God about the future of the nation of Judah.
Read Habakkuk 3:1-2
Habakkuk pleads with God for the sake of his people – not for anything good they have done (or not done) but only because of God’s character and mercy.
?)What effect does this have on people?
?)Should we always pray in this way during difficult situations?
Read verses 3-16
These verses describe in poetic language how God has shown his wrath in previous times.
?)When we know that difficulties are coming, will we always be fearful?
?)How does his faith enable Habakkuk to wait?
?)Would this be our reaction to approaching disaster?
Read verses 17-19
The prophet looked back on the great things that God had done and was filled with joy. He was determined to remain joy ful in the Lord, since even when all possess ions have gone, God remains. When we meet with great difficulties in life, Habakkuk’s words may bring encourage ment. Our faith in Christ prepares us for every event that life may throw at us. Habakkuk relied on God and not on human strength. In the end, God will bring his judgement upon the wicked.

विपत्तिको समयमा आनन्द
हबकूकको पुस्तकमा जम्मा तीनवटा अध्यायहरू मात्र छन्। पुस्तकको अन्तमा भएको नोटबाट यो विचार हुन्छ कि हबकूक मन्दिरका बादक थिए र निश्चय नै उनले कविताको भाषामा लेखेका थिए। अध्याय १ र २ ले यहूदाको भविष्यको बारेमा परमेश्वर र अगमवक्ता बीचको कुराकानीलाई व्यक्त गरेको छ।
हबकूक ३:१-२ पढ्नुहोस्।
आफ्ना मानिसहरूको खातिर हबकूकले परमेश्वरसँग विन्ती गर्छन् – उनीहरूले गरेका (वा नगरेको) कुनै असल कामको लागि होइन तर परमेश्वरको विशेषता वा कृपाको कारण मात्र हो।
?) मानिसहरूमा यसको असर कस्तो पर्छ ?
(?) अप्ठ्यारो परिस्थितिमा के हामीले पनि सधैँ यसरी नै प्रार्थना गर्नुपर्छ ?

विगतका समयहरूमा परमेश्वरले आफ्नो क्रोध कसरी प्रकट गर्नुभयो भन्ने कुराको व्याख्या यी पदहरूले कवितात्मक भाषामा व्यक्त गर्दछ।

अगमवक्ताले विगतका समयहरूमा परमेश्वरले गर्नुभएका महान् कार्यहरूलाई हेरे र आनन्दले भरिए। सबै सम्पत्तिहरू सकिए पनि उनी परमेश्वरमा आनन्दित हुन निश्चय गरेका छन् किनकि परमेश्वर रहिरहनुहुन्छ। हाम्रो जीवनमा ठूला समस्याहरू आउने समयमा हबकूकका वचनले हामीलाई उत्साह दिन्छ। जीवनमा आइपर्ने कुनै पनि घटनाको लागि ख्रीष्टमा भएको विश्वासले हामीलाई तयार पार्दछ। हबकूक मानिसको शक्तिमा होइन तर परमेश्वरमा भरोसा गरे।अन्त्यमा परमेश्वरले दुष्टको न्याय गर्नुहुन्छ।
