National level consultative workshop is being held to review and analyze state policies, legislations, programs and institutional arrangements along with their status of implementation in Nepal.
A joint stakeholder’s submission UPR Nepal -2015 will be submitted to United Nations’ Human Rights Council this March. The five day National Level Workshop will focus on issues of human rights like peace and reconciliation, Dalit’s access to Justice and issue of Physical Segregation, Rights of Migrants worker, Natural Resources and climate change, , Rights of Woman Reproductive Health, Girls child rights and Freedom of Religion.
This workshop has been supported by Pax-Romana and coordinated by Jagiriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal.UPR process is led by 33 different NGO based on their working areas. These organizations are participating and reporting in their respective thematic areas. The participants are the legal practitioners, woman rights activists, professors, journalists, health workers, law scholars who have the experiences of working in the grass-root level. Different experts have been invited to give their ideas on relevant thematic areas upon which the NGO coalition is working. Ms Laurence Kwark representative of Pax-Romana to United Nations is also present at the program as the facilitator and observer from Pax-Romana,Geneva.
This workshop is expected to enhance the knowledge on UPR process upon the participants. At the final day of the conference the collision shall indentify the international commitment made by Nepal, their implementation process and recommendations for Government of Nepal in the seven different thematic areas.
