25 December 2009 KATHMANDU, Christmas is being observed with much fanfare across the world and in Nepal as well.
Christmas is celebrated as birthday of Jesus Christ the savoiur of the world.
Nepal is also observing the festival by organizing various programmes. This festival has been recognized as a national festival since 2006/2007 by the House. The government had announced a national holiday on Christmas Day.
Meanwhile, President Ram Baran Yadav in his message on the occasion urged the people to develop feelings of brotherhood and to move ahead with peace and prosperity to make Nepal prosperous. He also greeted all the people who are celebrating Christmas within the country and outside the country.
Likewise NC chairman Girija Prasad Koirala in his message said that all the religions should be given equal priority to develop religious tolerance among people who belong to different religions. He added that in a democratic country with individual freedom and human rights, religious freedom should also be guaranteed.
Likewise Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has already given his best wishes to Christian all over Nepal.
