As the deadline for the promulgation of new constitution looms large in this beautiful and blessed nation, a common man struggles to cope with the confusion and fear of ‘what next’ if the progressive constitution affirming free and just society for all irrespective of their caste, colour, creed as well as economic status is not delivered on time.
Some of the statements of the people holding public portfolios in relation to the current affairs citing serious phrases i.e ‘holy war’, ‘bloodshed’, ‘turmoil and chaos’ etc. in their speeches too have helped add more confusion and fear in the hearts of common man as to what will happen if the progressive and just constitution not be promulgated on time.
Will the nation plunge into another decade of guerrilla warfare? Will the nation go back to the century old tactics of imposing one faith agenda by the majority group in power in the name of protecting and preserving national identity etc.?
Will the rights of the religious minorities to practise their faith freely without the feeling of insecurity etc be upheld?
These are some of the questions that a common man belonging to religious minority group etc. is trying hard to find answers in the situation when the nation is seeing the over the roof shouting of the self-centred leaders that are busy telling the people that the ‘woes of this nation is added and the identity of the nation is in crisis because of certain minority faith groups that have embraced a different faith than that of his fellow citizens’
People might panic, get confused and often feel insecure if they belong to minority groups in a situation like this.
But does one really need to panic at such scenarios? Let us wait for a moment here and let us flip through the eternal word of truth what it has to offer.
‘Don’t be distracted or frightened
by the rumors you hear in the land.
Sometimes you hear one thing
and another time something else:……’-Jeremiah 51:46 CEB
So no matter who says what? Or who comes in political hot chair we need not be afraid because God is in control of the situation.
‘Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.’- Joshua 1:9 ESV
And did the Lord tell us of coming of such perilous situations like these?
‘This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.’- 2 Timothy 3:1
What Jesus advices and assures during such difficult moments?
‘…but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.’-John 16:33 KJV
Why be cheerful? It’s because he is above the troubles of this world and has the power and grace to carry us past any storms of doubt, strife, division, disaster and sadness.
Will the people trying to destroy God, His children (though they seem like little flock in this wide world) and His Bride unjustly be ever successful?
‘Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.’-Proverbs 19:21 ESV
Now mark this age old saying: ‘Man may propose but it is God who disposes.’
My dear fellow beings it does not matter what others say and do; what matters is how close your walk is with the Lord every day. The darkness might seem thick but the Sun is sure to arise and when the Sun of Righteousness (Malachi 4:2) appears He always comes with healing in His wings. The deliverance is yours. The promise is sure to come to pass. Many a times even in the past the foes of darkness have tried to snuff out the Light of God’s Word that spreads, love, hope, harmony, healing and joy but it has never been successful in snuffing out the Light of the world.
The Light STILL shines today even amidst darkness (John 1:5). Just be careful to focus on the brighter side and not on the darker side.
Peace and courage to everyone.
