Nepal Catholic Samaj (NCS), today, organized a memorial service for Fr. John Prakash Molayan who was murdered in Sirsia on July 1st, 2008 at 2 a.m. by a group of unidentified masked men.
The service chaired by Bishop Anthony Sharma, head of the Nepalese Catholic Church, was held at the auditorium at St. Xavier’s School. Representatives of other faiths were also present for the service.
Fr. John Prakash, a native of Kerala India had worked in Nepal for over 10 years. He was the principal of Don Bosco School. He was an enthusiastic and active Salesian engaged in the socio-pastoral works of Sirsia, under the Dharan Community in Nepal. He was born at Ollur, Kerala, in 1948. He was ordained a priest for the Province of Bangalore in 1977. He came to Nepal in 1996 and began ministry in Dharan, and later in Sirsia from 2000 where the Salesians are running a Primary school catering to the poor children of the locality. Under the administration of Fr. John lots of development works have been carried out in Sirsia and its neighbourhoods which have benefited thousands of poor folk of the locality.
