This is how it happened

In September 29 a temporarily built bamboo house collapsed in Dharan, Zion Prayer house during a conference. This two storied bamboo house was built to provide the participants a place to stay. The house collapsed and 24 people were killed on the spot and 63 others were severely injured. According to the managing Committee among the deads the Zion Prayer House has done the funeral service for the 7. Among the injured, 1 is admitted to B. P. Koirala at the orthopedics Section and 2 are being cared for in Kathmandu B & B Hosptal. And others are taken care of in their local hospitals. 

How Did it happened?

According to the speaker of the event Mr. Moses Rai, the conference was organized by the El-Shaddai Prayer House in Kalingpong, India for the El-Shaddai denomination in Nepal and India. There were more than 100 churches participating in this first ever held huge conference. This was organized at Dharan El-Shaddai Prayer House, from 28 sep-2 oct. There were about 2000 people participating from India and Nepal And this 2 storied bamboo house was built at the open ground of the church for the women participants. Due to the heavy rain on 29 the tent roof got soaked and as the floor of the ground floor also got wet the people from the ground floor went up. This made the upper floors over loaded. And suddenly the house started to collapse from eastern side to western side.

What happened after the Collase?

The Nepal Police, The Nepal Armed Police Force and the Nepal Army arrived to the spot and helped in rescuing the people from. The next day the Home Minister paid visit and inspected the place and announce to give Rs2500.00 for the family of dead and free medications to the injured (which is not yet received by the families).To observe the situation Cultural Minster Dr. Minendra Rijal, constituent assembly member Kiran Rai, the vice president of Nepal Sadbhawana Party, Sitaram Poddar, President of Maoist Resurect Party, Mr. Matrika Prasad Yadav, World Hindu federation, representatives from local political parties, Christian Socity,  went to inspect the situation. They offered condolences to the leaders of the church. A committee has been formed with 4 members: Assistant CDO Mr. Harihar Dahal will be coordinating a committee of four members for investigation. This investigation team consist of Police officer Rajendra Dhakal, Judge Pramesh Pokhrel, Civil Engineer Pradip Singh along with Mr. Hrirar Dahal./. To help with the task giving them right information a sub committee is formed with a five members from the organizing committee, with the leaders: president of Sunsari Christian Society Joseph Rai (Himal), Speaker of Zion Church Mr. Moses Rai, Advocate Pikam Rai (Shadra) and Devendra Limbu ( Daniel). From the 16th of Asoj (16) the govrnment investigating team has started interviewing with the family members of the deads, the injured and the organizing committee. The organizing team has expressed its dissatisfaction towards the investigating team formed by the government since it has no representative from the related organization, local organizations, political parties and civil society.     

Lessons to be learnt

After the accident the local political party, civil society appealed that while conducting such programmes the managing team should take care that they take only the people with their capacity and not more than the capacity and not to build such type of temporary bamboo houses for such gatherings.

धरान सियोन प्रार्थना भवनमा भएको घटनाको बिस्तृत जानकारी धरान इर्साई समाजका अध्यक्ष पास्टर जोसेफ र्राईदारा
 
यसरी भयो चर्चको घटना
गत असोज १३ गते धरान स्थित सियोन प्रार्थना भवनको  पवित्र महासभामा सहभागिहरुको निम्ती बस्नको लागि निर्माण गरिएको  २ तले अस्थाई बाँसको टहरा ढल्न गई २४ जनाले ज्यान गुमाएका छन् भने ६३ जना घाइते भएका छन् । ज्यान गुमाएका मध्ये ७ जनाको सियोन प्रार्थना भवनले संयुक्त अन्त्येष्टी कार्यक्रम गरेको छ भने घाइते मध्ये हाल धरान बि.पि. कोइराला स्वास्थ विज्ञान प्रतिष्ठानमा १ जनाको हाडजोर्नि विभाग र काठमाण्डौ स्थित वि.एण्ड वि.अस्पतालमा २ जनाको उपचार भैरहेको आयोजकले जनाएको छ । साथै अन्य घाइतेहरुको आ आफ्नै स्थानमा उपचारको क्रम जारिरहेको छ ।

कसरी घट्यो घटना -
कालेम्पोङ स्थित एल शर्द्धाई प्रार्थना भवनद्धारा सञ्चालित नेपाल र भारतका एल शर्द्धाई समुहका एक सय भन्दा बढि मण्डलिको प्रथम पवित्र महासभा धरान १९ स्थित सियोन प्रार्थना भवनमा असोज १२ देखि २० गते सम्म आयोजना गरिएको थियो । २ हजारको हाराहारिमा सो महासभामा सहभागि थिए । आगन्तुक महिला सहभागि को निम्ति मण्डलिको प्रांगणमा बस्न २ तले बाँसको टहरा  -मचान) निर्माण गरिएको थियो । १३ गते आएको भिषण वषाको कारण राखिएको त्रिपाल भिज्न पुग्यो साथै भुइतला केहि भिजेको कारण भुइतलाका सहभागि माथिल्लो तलामा जाँदा भार थेग्न नसकि अचानक पुवबाट पश्चिम तर्फढल्न गएको घटनाको प्रत्यक्षदर्शि तथा सियोन प्रार्थना भवन घटनाका प्रवक्ता मोजेश र्राईले बताउनु भयो ।

घटना पश्चात के भयो -
घटनाको तुरुन्त नेपाल प्रहरी , स- शस्त्र प्रहरी बल र नेपाली सेनाका जवान आई दबिएर रहेको घाइतेको उद्धार गरी थप क्षति हुनबाट जोगाए । भोलि पल्ट गृहमन्त्रि भिम रावल आई घटनास्थलको निरिक्षण गरि मृतकलाई राहत स्वरुप जनहि रु. २५ हजार र घाइतेको निशुल्क उपचारको व्यवस्था नेपाल सरकारले गरिदिने आश्वासन दिए । घटनाको स्थलगत निरिक्षण गर्न संस्कृति मन्त्रि डा. मिनेन्द्र रिजाल, सुनसरी क्षेत्र नं. १ का सभासद किरण र्राई, नेपाल सद्भावना पार्टी उपाध्यक्ष सिताराम पोद्दार , पुनगठित ने.क.पा. माओवादि पार्टी अध्यक्ष मातृका यादव, विश्व हिन्दु महासंघ, स्थानिय राजनितिक दलका प्रतिनिधि, जातिय संघसंस्थाका प्रतिनिधि,इर्साई समाजका प्रतिनिधिहरु  आएका थिए । उनीहरु आएर स्थानिय मण्डलिका अगुवाहरुलाई भेटि समवेदना प्रकट गरेका थिए । घटनाको छानविन गर्न नेपाल सरकारको तर्फाट सुनसरी जिल्लाका सहायक प्रमुख जिल्ला अधिकारि हरिहर दाहालको संयोजकत्वमा ४ सदस्यि छानविन समिति बनाएको छ,, जसमा प्रहरी नायब उपरिक्षक राजेन्द्र ढकाल , महान्यायधीवक्ताको कार्यलयबाट सह न्यायधीवक्ता प्रमेश पोखरेल, भवन निर्माण इन्जिनियर प्रदिप सिंह रहेका छन् । छानविन समितिलाई सहयोग र घटनाको सही विवरण उपलब्ध गराउन आयोजकको तर्फाट सियोन प्रार्थना भवनका अगुवा विजय र्राईको संयोजकत्वमा ५ सदस्यि उपसमिति निर्माण गरिएको छ । जसमा सुनसरी इर्साई समाजका अध्यक्ष जोसेफ र्राई -हिमाल), सियोन चर्चका प्रवक्ता मोजेश र्राई, अधिवक्ता पिकम र्राई -शद्रक) , देबेन्द्र लिम्बु -दानियल) रहेका छन् । सो सरकारी छानविन समितिले १६ गते असोज देखि घटनामा परेका मृतकको परिवार, घाइते, आयोजक पक्षसँग सोधपुछ कार्य जारि राखेको छ । सरकारद्धारा गठित छानविन समितिमा सरोकारवाला संघसंस्था, स्थानिय राजनितिक दल, नागरिक समाजको संलग्नता नभएकोमा आयोजकको तर्फाट असन्तुष्ट व्यक्त गरेका छन् ।

राहत संकलन र परिचालनः
चर्च घटनामा ज्यान गुमाएका परिवारलाई चर्चको तर्फाट राहत प्रदान गर्न र घाइतेको उपचार गर्न सियोन प्रार्थना भवनले देबेन्द्र लिम्बु -दानियल) को संयोजकत्वमा धरान ख्रिष्टियन समाजका अध्यक्ष भिषण थापा , शामुयल रसायली, अधिवक्ता पिकम र्राई-शद्रक) , प्रवक्ता मोजेश र्राई,     र पार्सी र्राई सदस्य रहने गरि राहत संकलन तथा परिचालन उप समिति गठन गरेको छ । साथै जोसेफ हिमाल र्राई, र एण्ड्रु सुब्बा सल्लाहकार रहनुभएको आयोजकले बताएको छ । राहत क्रमिक रुपमा विभिन्न मण्डलि तथा संघ संस्थाबाट संकलन भैरहेको छ र संचारकर्मिहरुको तर्फाट रु. पचास हजार राहत प्राप्त भएको संयोजक देबेन्द्र लिम्बु-दानियल) ले बताएका छन् ।  संकलित राहत तत्कालिन अवस्थामा मृतकका परिवारलाई जनहि रु.दश हजारका दरले प्रदान गरिएको र घाइतेलाई उपचार गरिरहेको प्रवक्ता मोजेश र्राईले जानकारि गराउनु भयो ।

घटनाबाट सिक्नुपर्ने पाठहरुः
घटना पश्चात स्थानिय राजनितिक दल, नागरिक समाजका प्रतिनिधिले यस्ता धार्मिक कार्यक्रम गर्दा यस घटनाबाट अब उसो यस्तो मानविय क्षति हुन नदिन आयोजकको क्षमता भन्दा बढि सहभागिलाई संलग्न गराइनु नहुने र यस्ता अस्थाई बाँसका टहरा निर्माण गर्न नहुने बताएका छन् । यस्ता कार्यक्रम गर्दा चौतफिर् रुपमा ध्यान दिनुपर्ने नागरिक अनुगमन तथा सरोकार मञ्चका अध्यक्ष तिलक र्राईले बताउनुभयो ।
